Sulo's Brilliant Outsiders is an exciting and unique album project containing thirteen brand new songs: duets between Sulo Karlsson and a stunning and eclectic group of internationally-acclaimed artists!

Swedish Rock star, author, songwriter, musical-director, cultural commentator… Sulo is impossible to define.
His work as an artist is well-known: he is the front-man of Diamond Dogs, The Bitter Twin, and The Crunch. He also performs as a solo artist, and has collaborated with the likes of Max Martin, Randy Bachman, Ian Hunter, Paul Carrack, Robert Wyatt and Garry Johnson.

Co-writer and producer on this album is Kevin Porée - a veteran UK producer, musician, writer and arranger. For 23 years he was the owner of Berry Street Studio, one of London’s busiest recording studios. Credits include Paul Young, Los Pacaminos, James Brown, Imogen Heap, Cliff Richard, Radiohead, Dizzee Rascal, Arvo Part, Shirley Bassey, Brian McFadden, Squeeze, Thomas Dolby, Senser, Mark Hole, Roy Harper, etc

The Brilliant Outsiders project started with Sulo and Kevin Porée writing the song "Constant Reminder". They decided that it would be perfect as a duet with American singer, Maria McKee. They found a website and an email address and felt that they didn’t have anything to lose in sending her their demo and asking if she would be interested in recording the song as a duet. She loved it, and a month later Sulo was recording with her in L.A..

That recording convinced Sulo and Kevin that they should work on making an album of duets. The guidelines were that the songs would be in an Americana style; that every song could be a potential single; that the artists involved would be there because they loved the songs, and that the artists didn’t have to be ’country’ but that they should have an unusual or quirky history. In short, the artists had to be Brilliant Outsiders.

Two years later, we have the amazing result in hand. The album offers thirteen Americana songs, and each song is a potential single. The album is filled with exciting guests from the US, UK, Ireland and Sweden - besides Maria McKee we find Paul Young with Los Pacaminos, Rissi Palmer, Janis Ian, Linda Gail Lewis, Chris Spedding, Kikki Danielsson, Clare Teal, Idde Schultz, Sam Gleaves, Paul Brady, Terry Reid and Bellamy Brothers, and we can guarantee that all are involved because of their love for music, the songs and musical collaboration! Sulo's Brilliant Outsiders is a huge project and a real labour of love!
